Appearance
Deep red with purple hues.
Bouquet
Classic varietal leafiness, blackberry, blackcurrant, dark spice with hints of
spearmint and dark chocolate.
Palate
Blackcurrant and black cherry fruit lead into a creamy juicy mid palate of
cardamom, cinnamon and dark chocolate. The soft ripe tannins enhance
the wines richness and up front appeal, it is the overall balance, length and
structured finish that enables it to match fabulously with food.
Winemaking
2014 vintage was quite mild post veraison which aided flavour development
in advance of sugar accumulation. The mild days in late February and early March
allowed a consistent and condensed ripening period, the fruit was harvested in
a short period between mid and the end of March. The preservation of the bright
fruit flavours and leafy aromatics reflect the mild days during the latter stages
of ripening.
